TACOMA, Wash. – There was no shortage of offense from the Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon, thumping Northwest Conference rival George Fox University 5-0 at East Field.

Leah Magee was key to the Lute offense, as she was involved in three of the five goals scored by the Lutes (9-2, 6-1 NWC). She got PLU on the board in the 10th minute, cashing in on a cross from Kaylie Rozell. It continued when Magee's cross found the foot of Machaela Graddy for a goal in the 16th minute. In the 28th minute, Magee scored another goal, this time from Liz Griffith. On the day, Magee scored two goals and assisted on one.

"It was really a team effort," Magee said. "We stayed true to our process that we have had all season long. Our strong defense allowed us to have more opportunities to capitalize on in this game."

The Lutes scored another goal in the first half. It came from Megan Anderson in the 25th minute. She crossed a ball from right to left that ended up dribbling into the goal. The Lutes added the final goal in the second half. Graddy got an opportunity by herself in the 66th minute, and blasted the ball behind the keeper for her second tally of the game.

The Lutes were dominant, outshooting the Bruins 15-4 throughout the game. The Lutes also had control in the corners, getting five to the Bruins three.

The large lead allowed head coach Seth Spidahl to go deep into his bench. The young players did a good job of keeping the Bruins (4-4-2, 2-3-2 NWC) in check.

Natalie Robinson needed to make just two saves to log the shutout in goal, the team's ninth of the 2017 campaign.

"It's cliche, but we approach every half like it's a 0-0 mentality," Spidahl said. "We did things right and got a shutout the process way. We are always looking for chances to get our next generation in the game, and today was a good opportunity for that."

PLU returns to action on East Field on Sunday when the host Lewis & Clark College, with the game set to start at noon.
