TACOMA, Wash. – It took two overtimes before Leah Magee found the back of the net, giving the 18th-ranked Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer team the 1-0 double overtime victory over Northwest Conference rival University of Puget Sound on Wednesday night at East Field.

Part one of the Battle of the South Sound for the Lutes (6-1, 3-0 NWC) and Loggers (3-3-1, 1-2 NWC) was just that, a battle. It took 105 minutes before Magee was able to punch home the game-winner. The sophomore received a beautiful cross from Katie Coronado, putting it home with her head to give the Lutes the win.

"When I saw the cross from Katie, I got really excited because I knew I was going to get this one," Magee said. "I realized I couldn't reach it with anything else, so I just went for it with my head."

PLU had its chances for goals throughout regulation and overtime. Between the regulation and the first overtime, the Lutes had eight shots and six corner kicks. They had one shot in the final overtime, as it would turn out to be the most important.

Natalie Robinson was stellar in goal for the Lutes. She made four saves on the contest, with two coming in the second half of regulation. She made two more in the first overtime period and has now gone 484 minutes without allowing a goal.

"It was a good, Northwest Conference, cross-town rivalry game," head coach Seth Spidahl said. "It's always going to be a hard one against UPS because they have a pride and tradition and that just doesn't go away. Overall, I'm proud of the team. We found a way to grind one out, and get a win."

PLU returns to action when they head to Willamette University on Sunday, with the game starting at noon.
