Official United Soccer Coaches Release
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - United Soccer Coaches announced its 2019 Hall of Fame induction class on Wednesday with former Pacific Lutheran University
women's soccer coach and current
Professor of Kinesiology Dr. Colleen Hacker earning induction to the Hall of Fame.
Hacker will be inducted along with Aliceann Wilber and Albie Loeffler during the annual USC Convention on Jan. 9-13 in Chicago, Illinois. Hacker and Wilber will be making history, becoming the first females to be enshrined in the USC Hall of Fame.Â
Hacker served as head coach of the women's soccer team from 1981 to 1995. That 15-year stretch saw the Lutes win 10 Northwest Conference titles, five straight NAIA District 1 and NAIA West Region Championships, while playing in the NAIA national title game every year from 1988 to 1992. That run saw Hacker's teams hoist the national championship trophy three times, winning it all in 1988, 1989, and 1991.Â
A 2005 PLU Hall of Fame Inductee, Hacker earned Conference Coach of the Year honors five times, NAIA District 1 Coach of the Year seven times, was a four-time West Region Coach of the Year, and on three occasions was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year. She compiled an impressive 233-59-18 (.779) record on the soccer pitch and still holds the school record for coaching victories. The Lutes' 1988 NAIA Championship marked the first time in collegiate soccer history that a female head coach had led a team to a national collegiate championship.
Since stepping away as PLU's head coach, Hacker has served on the coaching staff of the US National Team, coaching in five Olympic Games as a Mental Skills Coach and Performance Psychology Specialist for the women's soccer, field hockey, and women's hockey teams. She won gold medals with the US National Women's Soccer Team at the 1996, 2004, and 2008 Olympic Games, and at the 1999 World Cup.Â
