Official NWC Release
TACOMA, Wash. - Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer student-athlete
Brianna Hunting was honored by the Northwest Conference office for the third time this season on Monday, claiming NWC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Â
The Kennewick, Washington native helped the three-time defending NWC Champion Lutes (14-1-1, 12-0 NWC) earn a pair of home shutouts over the weekend, blanking Lewis & College 2-0 and Pacific University 4-0. Hunting anchored a stout defense that allowed just three shots on target against the Pioneers while allowing just one total shot in the blowout win over Pacific. The senior captain additionally scored a goal in the 36th minute against the Boxers while also collecting a pair of assists.Â
Â
Hunting and the Lute defense have now gone 595 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal, a streak spanning across seven games. The Lutes have outscored the rest of the NWC by an impressive 29-1 margin and currently are on a program-record 13-game win streak.
Â
Monday marks the third time this season that Hunting has won NWC Defensive Player of the Week and the fifth time a Lute has captured the honor. Hunting was previously recognized on Sept. 23 and Oct. 7 while
Ashton Huppert won the award on Sept. 9 and
Emma Hunter secured the honor on Sept. 30.
Â
The red-hot Lutes are back in action on Saturday, hosting George Fox University at East Field with kickoff slated for 12 p.m.
