MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming team won all 11 events on Friday night, overpowering host Linfield College 144-61 inside the Linfield Aquatic Center to remain undefeated in Northwest Conference dual meets.
Bailey Hamilton,
Hannah VanHeyningen, and
Claire Cranch headlined the day, all winning three events.
Hamilton opened the meet by teaming up with
Victoria Nguyenle,
Kiyomi Kishaba, and
Sidney Chan-Orcutt, winning the 400-yard medley relay in a time of four minutes, 8.54 seconds. Hamilton topped the field in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 2:02.62 with teammate
Jenna Muller close behind in second (2:04.82) and tallied win number three in the 100-yard freestyle (56.25) with
Lauren Kearney placing runner-up in 56.38.
VanHeyningen held a monopoly in the distance swims, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:08.40 before taking the 500-yard freestyle in 5:27.45 with Muller (5:35.98) and
Allie Burke (5:38.97) finishing in second and third, respectively. VanHeyningen closed out the night by teaming up with Chan-Orcutt, Kearney, and Nguyenle to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:46.03.
Cranch took top honors in the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.78), 200-yard butterfly (2:13.92), and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.31) while
Whitney Mundle was runner-up in the 200 breaststroke in 2:33.34.
Kearney sprinted to the win in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the all in 25.69 while Kishaba won her second race of the night in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking a winning time of 2:11.58.
"I'm so impressed with this team," said Head Coach
Matt Sellman. "We came into a tough situation and dominated what should have been a close meet. Surprised but not surprised that we did what we did. This is a tough and confident team and I can't be surprised by what they do!"
The Lutes (7-0, 6-0 NWC) are back in the pool tomorrow morning, facing Pacific University at 10 a.m. in Forest Grove.
