Lute Salute: Cassidy Crosswhite

Lute Salute Series

TACOMA, Wash. - Pacific Lutheran University's Cassidy Crosswhite is facing her last season as a Lute soccer player. Although the season looks different than the past three years, Crosswhite is grateful for the opportunity to train with her teammates for one last season.

Crosswhite is very grateful for the friendships she made through the women's soccer team. One of her favorite memories was traveling to England with her teammates during her second year at PLU.

"Coming into college I was very quiet and shy," Crosswhite said. "My teammates and coaches gave me a sense of comfort and confidence which allowed me to grow and develop into the person I am today."

Crosswhite is also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Beta Alpha Psi. When she's not playing soccer, she competes in PLU's intramural sports.

Crosswhite's involvement in PLU athletics has been a critical part of her college experience.

"Athletics taught me how to effectively work with a team and has given me friends for life," Crosswhite said.

Between the posts, Crosswhite has been a standout for the Lutes after a breakout junior season. The Spokane, Washington native appeared in goal in just one game prior to the 2019 season but made 13 starts last fall, collecting as many shutouts (six) and goals allowed (six).

Crosswhite's 0.45 goals against average was one of the best in the NWC last season, earning First Team All-Northwest Conference accolades. Her tenure on the team has seen the Lutes win three straight NWC titles, make two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, and boast a 46-9-8 overall record. That includes a 39-5-4 mark in league play and a nearly unbeatable 23-1-4 mark at PLU's East Field.

"Watching Cass grow into these past four years has been awesome!" said Head Coach Seth Spidahl. "She has elevated herself into one of our starting goalkeepers the past two years, is heavily involved with SAAC, and has emerged as a leader for our program both on and off the field.  I am excited to watch her finish out her career for our program on the field this Spring on a high note!"

Away from the pitch, Crosswhite is a three-time NWC All-Academic honoree, a 2019 First Team Scholar All-West Region selection, and was inducted into the athletic honors society Chi Alpha Sigma in the spring of 2020.

She will graduate with a degree in Business Accounting, and plans to work for an accounting firm while pursuing a Master's degree in Accounting.
