Setting the Scene: On Saturday, the Lutes host the final home series of the season in both baseball and softball while track & field competes in its final meet before the 2021 Northwest Conference Championships. On Sunday, the four-time NWC Champion women's rowing team puts its title on the line, competing at the 2021 NWC Championship Regatta on Vancouver Lake.

Women's Track & Field: 15th-ranked Pacific Lutheran turned in a strong showing at the University of Puget Sound's Peyton-Shotwell Invitational on Saturday, placing third overall and first among D3 squads at the meet. Lauren Wilson won the high jump, clearing 5' 3" and on Monday was named NWC Field Athlete of the Week while Ava Nelson was third in the javelin (123' 4").
 
On the track, Sarah Paquet was third in the 5,000-meters with a personal best time of 17:35.87 and was named NWC Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this spring.
 
Baseball: The Lutes (20-11, 16-7 NWC) remain in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the NWC Tournament heading into the final two weeks of the season. PLU had its eight-game win streak snapped on Saturday at Whitworth University, falling 11-7 and 10-7 despite holding leads in both games. The Lutes responded on Sunday with a sweep, collecting 19-5 and 3-0 wins.
 
Cody Bentley headlined the series with a .583 batting average with six runs scored, five RBIs, and two home runs. On the mound, first-year Jonathan Cohen delivered six innings of scoreless ball in the series finale, earning the win and picking up four strikeouts.
 
Men's Track & Field: The Lutes placed fourth and was the top Division III team at Saturday's Peyton-Shotwell Invitational. Seth Bridge won the shot put with a toss of 49' 5 ½", Corey Solomon was runner-up in the pole vault (14' 4 ½") while Ryan Stracke was third in the 1,500-meters in 14:59.78.
 
PLU scored 86.5 points at the meet, finishing behind Division II's Central Washington University, Western Washington University, and Saint Martin's University. The Lutes outscored rival University of Puget Sound by 58.5 points.
 
Women's Rowing: The ninth-ranked Lutes return to Vancouver Lake for the second time this season, looking to hoist the program's unprecedented fifth straight conference crown. The Lutes varsity eight heads into the championships undefeated against D3 foes, defeating University of Puget Sound by 19-seconds on March 28 at the Lamberth Cup before enjoying a 14-second gap on Lewis & Clark College two weeks ago. 
 
Softball: PLU (12-20, 9-15 NWC) split its series last weekend on the road against Pacific University and heads into its season finale against University of Puget Sound still in the hunt for a spot in the 2021 NWC Tournament.
 
The Lutes took the opener 3-2 over the Boxers on Friday before dropping the nightcap 4-1. On Saturday the host Boxers took game three 9-5 but PLU fought back to earn the 15-3 blowout win in the series finale.
 
Casey Wright finished the weekend hitting at a .457 clip with a .471 on-base percentage. The Federal Way native collected a hit in every game, collecting three RBIs and scoring four runs. Inside the circle, Kennedy Robillard earned a pair of wins, logging a 1.85 ERA for the weekend after issuing just two walks in 11 1/3 innings of work. 
 
Women's Tennis: The Lutes (3-7, 2-6 NWC) closed out their 2021 season on Saturday at home, falling 7-0 to Whitman College at the Sprinker Recreation Center. First-year Jillian Chong closed her debut season with a 5-5 record in singles play, including winning two of her three matches at the No. 4 position while Taylor Stokes finished the year with four singles wins. 
 
Men's Tennis: Pacific Lutheran (2-8, 1-7 NWC) capped off the 2021 season on Saturday, coming up short, 9-0, against Whitman College. Michael Campbell led the Lutes this season in No. 1 singles, racking up four wins at that spot while Samuel Kwon collected three singles wins between the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
 
In doubles, Campbell and Marcus Lee finished the season with five wins at the top position.
