Complete USC All-Region Team
TACOMA, Wash. — United Soccer Coaches (USC) unveiled its All-Region teams on Tuesday with five members of the Northwest Conference Champion Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer team earning recognition.
Craig Johnson led the way as a First Team All-Region X selection while
Nicholas Gaston,
Alex White, and
Trevor Thompson earned Second Team All-Region with
Robby Guyer landing Third Team honors.
Craig Johnson headlines the Lute All-Region honorees, landing on the 11-player First Team as a forward. The First Team All-NWC selection had a historic season, shattering the school single season record for points (49) after scoring 19 goals with 11 assists. That included five game-winning goals.Â
Nicholas Gaston secures Second Team All-Region as a goalkeeper. Gaston was a First Team All-NWC selection this fall, making 60 saves with a 0.83 goals against average. Gaston collected six shutouts this fall, starting 20 of the 21 games the Lutes played. Â
Alex White lands Second Team All-Region X as a defender. A First Team All-League selection, White anchored a stout defensive unit that allowed just 17 goals in 21 games and boasted 10 shutouts on the season.Â
Trevor Thompson is the third Lute to secure Second Team All-Region. The First Team All-NWC forward was second on the team in both goals (16) and points (41). That includes four game-winning goals this fall.Â
Robby Guyer rounds out the Lute award winners, landing Third Team All-Region. The First Team All-NWC forward started all 21 games this fall and scored seven goals while netting a team-best 12 assists.
Johnson was the lone NWC player to earn First Team All-Region honors. In total, PLU accounted for five of the six NWC players to be recognized.Â
The Lutes wrapped up the regular season ranked fourth in the nation in both scoring offense (3.48) and goal differential (+56), winning the NWC title with a 13-1-2 record and closing the year with a 14-2-5 mark.Â
