Complete USC All-Region Team
TACOMA, Wash. — Five members of the Northwest Conference Champion Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region X honors on Tuesday, headlined by
Hannah Cecil securing First Team honors.
Ella Merte and
Lily Dose landed Second Team All-Region X while
Abby Winkler and
Alyssa Leong secured Third Team All-Region.
Hannah Cecil is the lone player from the NWC to earn a spot on the 11-player First Team All-Region X team. The 2023 NWC Offensive Player of the Year scored 17 goals and notched four assists in 19 games this fall, including seven game-winning goals.Â
Ella Merte secures Second Team All-Region honors as a defender. Merte led the Lutes in minutes played this fall, starting all 21 games and logging 1,798 minutes on the field. A three-time NWC Defensive Player of the Year, Merte anchored a defense that allowed just 13 goals all season and posted 12 shutouts.
Lily Dose joins Merte as a Second Team All-Region selection. The midfielder and First Team All-NWC award winner started all 21 games this fall with seven goals and one assist.Â
Goalkeeper
Abby Winkler lands a spot on the All-Region Third Team. The Second Team All-NWC selection made 66 saves on the season with a 0.62 goals against average.Â
Alyssa Leong rounds out the Lute award winners, netting Third Team All-Region. The First Team All-NWC forward led the team in assists (12) and ranked second in both goals (nine) and points (30).Â
PLU accounted for five of the seven NWC players recognized as All-Region.
The Lutes (15-5-1, 13-3 NWC) won their seventh straight conference title this fall before falling 1-0 in overtime to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in the opening round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships. Â
