Setting the Scene: The Pacific Lutheran University basketball teams get to enjoy the comforts of home prior to the Holidays, hosting a pair of games over the next five days.

MBB hosts Portland Bible inside Olson Gymnasium (7 p.m.)
Women's Basketball: The Lutes (5-3) remained perfect at home with a 63-56 victory over Multnomah University last Thursday night inside Olson Gymnasium.
PLU never trailed in the seven-point victory, opening up a 11-point lead after one quarter of play.
Ava Edmonds headlined the night, dropping 21 points while
Raylie Wardenaar,
Sydney Reisner, and
Taylor Schmidtke all finished in double figures.
The Lutes lead the NWC and rank 27th nationally in three-point percentage, draining 35 percent of its chances. Reisner is the team's top sharpshooter, hitting 48.4 percent of her shots from beyond the arc.
Men's Basketball: Pacific Lutheran (6-1) scored 20 straight points to blow out Douglas College on Sunday afternoon inside Olson Gymnasium to improve to 3-0 at home this season.
The Lutes were on fire to start the game, hitting their first 10 shots, including the first nine from the floor while ending the opening half shooting 70.6 percent (24-for-34) from the field.
Brandin Riedel and
Sam Noland each finished with 18 points while
Jackson Reisner netted 11 in his season debut.
PLU leads the NWC and ranks 12th nationally in field goal percentage (49.6 percent) while
Brandin Riedel sits 19th in NCAA Division III in field goal percentage, hitting 64.3 percent of his shots.
Attaways: Sam Noland was recognized by the conference office on Monday, securing NWC Player of the Week honors. The senior averaged 16.9 points per game over the two games played last week.
Track & Field: The Lutes sent a small group of athletes to eastern Washington last Saturday to compete at the Spokane Invitational to open the indoor season.
Grady Lemma won the pole vault, clearing 14 feet, 7 ¼ inches while
Bridger Hanis was the top D3 competitor in the high jump after clearing 6' 0 ¾" in his collegiate debut.
On the women's side,
Allie Youngs ran a personal best time of 8.61 in the 60-meters.
The men and women take the rest of the month off and resume the indoor slate on Jan. 13 in Seattle at the UW Preview Meet.
Swimming: The Lutes take a training trip to Hawaii, departing on Friday. The Lutes last competed at the Bruin Invitational on Dec. 3 and will resume the NWC dual meet slate on Jan. 12 at Whitman College.
The Lute men's team is 3-2 this year in dual meets, including a perfect 3-0 in conference meets while the women boast a 4-1 overall record and a 3-0 mark in league duals.
