LAKEWOOD, Wash. - The six-time Northwest Conference Champion Pacific Lutheran University women's rowing team turned in a trio of second place finishes on Saturday at the Logger Invitational on American Lake.
"It was another good week on American Lake. Having our conference present was a great preview of the season ahead and where we need to be speed wise. We were able to close the gap on UPS so tomorrow should be a fun day on the course," said Head Coach

The Lutes varsity eight opened the regatta by finishing second racing head-to-head with conference rival Lewis & Clark College. PLU's crew of

Jessie Dougherty ripped down the 2,000-meter course in seven minutes, 53.87 seconds, finishing 13 seconds behind the Pioneers.

Chloe Froeschner,
Hannah Miyasaki and coxswain Dougherty placed second against Lewis & Clark, clocking a time of 8:33.46. The second varsity eight raced a second time against Lewis & Clark with a crew of Abbott, Crespo, Roberts, Templin, Teague, Martinez, Froeschner, Miyasaki, and coxswain Heinauer finishing 40.84 seconds behind the Pios.
The Lutes are back on American Lake tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. where they look to win the Lamberth Cup for the fifth consecutive season.
