TACOMA, Wash. — The seven-time defending Northwest Conference Champion Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer team is on a five-game win streak and on Tuesday muscled its way into the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll.
The Lutes (6-1-3, 5-0-1 NWC) are one of two new faces in the week five poll, entering the rankings at No. 25. PLU is one of just two teams west of the Central Time Zone to be ranked in the poll.
Washington University in Saint Louis (12-0-1) sits atop the poll followed by Massachusetts based Amherst College (6-0-3) and Virginia's Christopher Newport University (9-0-1). Pennsylvania's Carnegie Mellon University (8-0-4) and Misericordia University (9-1-1) round out the top five. Three opponents the Lutes have played this year appear in the top 25, including Johns Hopkins University (6-1-3) at No. 9, Case Western Reserve University (7-0-4), and McDaniel College (8-1-2) at No. 24. PLU beat Hopkins, tied Case, and lost to McDaniel.
