Complete Men's Track & Field All-Conference Team
HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Pacific Lutheran University track & field programs had 11 student-athletes recognized as All-Northwest Conference by the conference office on Thursday for their performance at the 2024 NWC Championships.
Five women and six men were recognized, headlined by NWC Champions
Madison Downey,
Eva Wirth,
Owen Ladinig, and
Grady Lemma. Also earning All-League recognition was
Kyleigh Archer,
Teuila Ilalio,
Alicia-Ellalynn Soliai,
Stefans Lusis,
Carson Olmstead,
Keola Sanchez, and
Ryan Stracke.
Madison Downey earned All-Conference honors after winning the NWC title in the triple jump. The first-year won the title with a personal best jump of 36 feet, 7 ¾ inches. Teammate
Kyleigh Archer also earned All-League in the triple jump, finishing runner-up with a mark of 36' 4 ¼" in her conference debut.
Eva Wirth secured All-Conference in the hammer throw after winning the league title in the event. Wirth earned the top spot on the podium with a personal best throw of 154' 7", winning the hammer by 18 inches.
Owen Ladinig is All-Conference after winning the NWC crown in the 10,000-meters. The junior completed the 25-lap race in 31 minutes, 6.40 seconds, enjoying a 15-second lead on the rest of the field.
Grady Lemma was All-Conference in two events after winning the NWC title in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. Lemma blazed down the straightaway in 14.97 to win the 110-meter hurdles before completing the double with a win in the 400-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 54.93. Â
Stefans Lusis was All-Conference in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:17.32) by virtue of a third place showing while
Keola Sanchez was All-League in the 100-meters with a runner-up finish in 10.73.
Carson Olmstead was All-Conference in the javelin with a personal best throw of 197' 6", a mark that ranks as the 13th best throw in NCAA Division III this spring.
Ryan Stracke secured All-Conference with a pair of runner-up finishes. The senior was second in the 1,500-meters in 3:51.61 before claiming second in the 5,000-meters in 14:39.42.
Teuila Ilalio and
Alicia-Ellalynn Soliai both earned All-Conference honors in the throws at their first-ever NWC Championships. Ilalio was third in the shot put with a personal record toss of 40' 9" while Soliai was third in the discus with a personal best throw of 130' 9".
The Lutes wrapped up the 2024 NWC Championships in Newberg, Oregon with the men's squad finishing third overall and the women placing seventh.
Both squads are back in action on Saturday, competing in Bellingham, Washington at the Ralph Vernacchia Invitational.
