Setting the Scene: It's Homecoming Week in Luteville! The Pacific Lutheran University athletic department will have four teams competing at home this weekend while four more compete on the road. The reigning Northwest Conference Champion men's and women's soccer teams play a pair of games on East Field while volleyball and football also host games. Meanwhile men's and women's cross country travels to Walla Walla while men's and women's golf competes in Oregon.

2026 Hall of Fame Class: The Lutes announced the Hall of Fame class for 2026 on Thursday with six outstanding alumni being inducted.Â
Â
Those include Stacey Hagensen and Kaaren Hatlen from softball, Spencer Augustin and Chad Kearns from soccer, and Sandy Metzger and Craig Stelling from track & field.

The 2026 induction ceremony for the 35th induction class will be on Saturday, April 18 inside Olson Gymnasium.

Men's Golf: Soren Bostrom had a big day on the course on Tuesday, shooting a career low round of 66 to steal the show and win medalist honors at the PLU Invitational. Bostrom finished the tournament shooting a five-under 139 for the two-day event at The Home Course.

Koen Solis was runner-up, shooting at 140 while
Tanner Frinell was sixth with a 144.

As a team, the Lutes finished second overall, finishing two strokes short of 25th-ranked Willamette University. PLU shot a 578 as a team, shooting a 294 on Monday and a 284 on Tuesday.

Volleyball: The Lutes (5-6, 3-1 NWC) took care of business in their first road trip to Oregon, rebounding from an opening set loss to defeat Willamette University 3-1.Â

PLU dropped the first set by a razor thin 26-24 margin but came away with big wins in the second and fourth, posting winning scores of 25-15 and 25-17.
Julissa Pernsteiner headlined the night with 10 kills while
Ayre Takamoto had a double-double with 29 assists and 24 digs.Â

Women's Soccer: Pacific Lutheran (3-2-3, 3-0-1 NWC) returns home in a three-way tie for first place in the league standings. The Lutes hit the road for the first time in league play on Saturday and looked no worse for the wear, downing host Willamette 3-0.Â

Marie Piho tallied her first career goal in the 40th minute before getting insurance scores from
Liv Olson and
Ally Tattar.Â

Milestone Watch: Starting goalkeeper
Abby Winkler sits just five saves away from becoming the seventh Lute in school history to amass 200 career saves.Â

Men's Soccer: The Lutes (4-3-1, 3-0-1 NWC) return home riding a five match unbeaten run. PLU had a four-game winning streak, including a 4-0 thrashing of University of Puget Sound before battling to a 3-3 road tie with Willamette on Saturday.

Connor O'Brien scored twice in that game to give the Lutes a lead but the Bearcats answered every time, including the final equalizer in the 76th minute of play.

Milestone Watch: Lute alum and longtime assistant coach Jaime Bloomstine will be participating in his 600th game as a Lute on Saturday as either a player or a coach. Bloomstine was a student-athlete at PLU from 1992-1995, helping the program make two trips to the NAIA National Tournament. He returned as an assistant coach for the 1997 season and has been an assistant every year for the Lutes since the 2000 campaign.Â

Women's Golf: PLU's small squad yielded big results on Tuesday at the PLU Invitational, earning a pair of top 15 finishes.Â

Kathleen Pullin led the Lutes, shooting a season-best 177 at the tournament, tying for seventh overall. Pullin shot a 91 on Monday before being even better on Tuesday, registering a round of 86.
Kate Sabarillo was two strokes back in 11th with a 179.

Football: The Lutes (1-2) open NWC play this weekend when Willamette University comes to Sparks Stadium for the annual homecoming game.

PLU opened the season on Sept. 6, having a game-winning drive run out of time in an 18-15 setback to California Lutheran University. The Lutes vented that frustration the following week in the home opener, rolling up Simpson University 42-16. PLU finished off non-conference action two weeks ago, stumbling 45-8 to then 23rd-ranked Trinity University.

PLU enters league play averaging 318 yards per game with 248.7 of those coming through the air.
Connor Meade has been the Lutes most consistent receiver with 11 catches for 174 yards and a touchdown through the first three games.Â

Men's Cross Country: Pacific Lutheran races in its second 8K race of the year and third overall race this Saturday in Walla Walla, Washington. Â

The Lutes placed ninth overall as a team at the PLU Invitational back on Sept. 20, with
Kai Sorensen leading the way. The senior finished just inside the top 25, placing 24th in 26 minutes, 36.1 seconds.Â
Â
Saturday's race is the penultimate competition for the Lutes before hosting the 2025 NWC Championships on Nov. 1.

Women's Cross Country: The Lutes are back in action this weekend after having been idle since placing 10th at the PLU Invitational on Sept. 20.Â

Three seconds is all that separated PLU's top two finishers with
Sal Mattivi and
Maddie Mitchell finishing back-to-back in 46th place and 47th place, respectively.
Â
Mattivi led the charge, finishing in 24:58.3 with Mitchell finishing her first collegiate 6K race in 25:01.1.
Community Partners: The PLU swimming teams lived out a Lute core value of service in September, hosting a five-day Swim Safety Series for the local community in a partnership with No More Under.
