Official NWC Release
HILLSBORO, Ore. — Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer student-athlete
Owen Bliskis has been a goal scoring machine and on Monday was recognized for his efforts, securing Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Bliskis scored three goals over the weekend, guiding the Lutes (12-3-3, 11-0-3 NWC) to a pair of road wins to remain in the chase for the program's third straight NWC title. The Spanaway, Washington native scored twice in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Linfield University, striking in both the fourth and 48th minutes. The junior was back at it on Sunday, scoring the eventual game-winner in the 18th minute in a 2-1 triumph over Pacific University. Bliskis has been on fire, scoring in six consecutive games and leads the NWC in scoring with 13 goals this fall. Bliskis's offense has played a key role in PLU's six game win streak and 15-game unbeaten streak.
This marks the second time this fall Bliskis has won NWC Offensive Player of the Week, also earning the distinction on Oct. 20. He's the fourth Lute to be honored by the league office with goalkeepers
Landon Gordon (Oct. 27),
Gio Aguilar-Gutierrez (Oct. 13 & Sept. 29), and
Chris Jamrok (Sept. 8) all earning NWC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Lutes control their own destiny with two games to play in the regular season, hosting Whitworth University on Saturday and NWC leading Whitman College on Sunday at East Field. Both games are slated to kickoff at 1:45 p.m.
