Women's Track & Field Sweeps NWC Awards

HILLSBORO, Ore. —The Pacific Lutheran University women's track & field swept the Northwest Conference Athlete of the Week awards on Monday with Addisen Hering winning NWC Track Athlete of the Week and Kyleigh Archer securing NWC Field Athlete of the Week.

Addisen Hering secures Track Athlete of the Week after winning a pair of events and finishing second in another at the PLU Invitational on Friday. The Port Orchard, Washington native won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.79 seconds, a time that's the 21st best time in PLU history and the 12th best effort in NCAA Division III this season. The first-year helped the 4x400-meter relay team to a first place finish to close the meet, clocking a time of 4:29.00 and was a member on PLU's 4x100-meter relay team that placed second overall in 54.04.

Kyleigh Archer earns Field Athlete of the Week after winning all three events she competed in on Friday. The Spokane, Washington native won the triple jump with a personal best leap of 36 feet, 10 1/4 inches. It's a mark that's tied for the seventh best jump in school history and is the fifth best jump in Division III during the outdoor season. Archer also won the long jump with a leap of 16' 1 1/2" and was on PLU's winning 4x100-meter relay squad (52.51). 

Hering, Archer, and the rest of the Lutes are back in action on Saturday, opening spring break in southern California at the Westmont Classic.
