TACOMA, Wash. --- The Pacific Lutheran University Women's Golf team took on cross-town rival Puget Sound on Sunday at Oakbrook Golf Club, the two squads came away with two points each, ending the dual tied.

After leading the Lutes yesterday,
Abby Matelski took on Kira Goode of the Loggers in the No.1 spot. Matelski trailed by three through the first five holes, but proceeded to win six and seven to get within one. She ended up dropping four of the final six holes, giving the Loggers a point.

Freshman
Emily Alicea took on the Loggers no.2 golfer on Sunday, with Alicea going down by two after the first seven holes. But crucial wins on holes nine and ten brought the match back to level. She didn't look back, taking holes 12, 15, and 16 to close out the match, 3 & 2. Tying the team scores.

Sophomore
Ashley Nguyen and her opponent took turns taking the lead back and forth through the first seven holes. Nguyen went on a stretch where she won five of six holes from eight through 13, taking a commanding five-hole lead. Nguyen closed the match out on the 15
th with a win, taking the match 5 & 3 to give the Lutes the lead.

Sophomore
Kathleen Pullin went down early, tailing by four, but she didn't bow out. Pullin won holes seven, ten, and thirteen, but the damage had already been done; she fell to her opponent 5 & 4.

The two Northwest Conference foes drew the match-play format event, with each team winning two matches a-piece.

"I am super proud of the teams today. We played hard against Saint Martin's but came up short, so it was nice to battle back again today. We will take this momentum into the Spring Classic next weekend in Walla Walla." Said Head Coach

The Lutes set their sights on next weekend, where they will travel to Walla Walla, Wash. to compete in their second Northwest Conference tournament of the season, the NWC Spring Classic.
