LAKEWOOD, Wash. — Jayda Thomas finished inside the Top 10 at her first Northwest Conference major tournament, helping the Pacific Lutheran University women's golf program to a sixth place finish at the 2026 NWC Spring Classic at Oakbrook Golf & Country Club. 

Thomas tied for seventh overall, shooting a two-round score of 155. Thomas opened the tournament with a 75 on Saturday before shooting an 80 during round two on Sunday. Thomas had two birdies and 12 pars on Saturday while netting four birdies and six pars on Sunday.

Kate Sabarillo was the next Lute finisher, placing 26th with a 172. Sabarillo shot an 84 on Saturday with an 88 on Sunday. On stroke separated Maddie Downie and Kathleen Pullin. Downie shot a 177 to place 30th overall (94-83), showing an 11-stroke improvement from Saturday to Sunday while Pullin shot a 178 to finish 32nd, shooting an 87 on Saturday and a 91 on Sunday. 

"Overall I am happy with our effort this weekend!  The Lutes performed pretty well. Of course, one of our biggest problems was not having Emily Alicea on the course. Emily had to miss this event due to an injury. But Jayda placed seventh and all of the women had at least one good round. I'm hopeful that Emily will be back for the NWC Championship and we can build on this!" said Head Coach Al Patterson. 

The Lutes finished the two-day tournament with a team score of 340, enjoying a seven stroke lead over crosstown rival University of Puget Sound. PLU shot a 340 during round one on Saturday before carding a 342 during Sunday's final round. George Fox University hoisted the team title, shooting a 610 (307-303) with Whitworth University runner-up with a 621 (313-308).

Lewis & Clark College's Ahika Jani won medalist honors, shooting a 147 (74-73).

The Lutes are back in action on Wednesday, hosting Bellevue College in a dual match at Chamber Bays Golf Course.
