NORTH PLAINS, Ore. — Jayda Thomas tied for first after 36 holes on Monday at the 2026 Northwest Conference Championship, helping the Pacific Lutheran University women's golf squad to a fifth place showing.

Thomas was in a four-way tie for first place after round one on Sunday, shooting a round of 76 at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club, making two birdies and 11 pars. Thomas shot a 77 during round two as the top of the leaderboard was whittled from four to just two. The junior's round on Monday included one birdie and 11 pars. Thomas battled Whitman College's Camila Yoo in a playoff hole for the tournament title with Yoo ultimately prevailing.

Kate Sabarillo snuck inside the Top 25, tying for 23rd with a 175. Sabarillo opened the event by firing an 86 before carding an 89 on Monday. The junior had seven pars on Sunday before shooting four pars on Monday.

Kathleen Pullin and Emily Alicia tied for 33rd with Maddie Downie one stroke back in 35th. Pullin shot a 185, carding a 94 on Sunday before shaving off three strokes on Monday with a 91. Alicea registered an 89 on Sunday before shooting a 96 in round two. Downie shot a 186, shooting rounds of 94 and 92.

"As a team, a fifth pace finish is good for us. We certainly could have performed better but finishing middle of our conference is a good finish," said Head Coach Al Patterson.

"We had a standout performance from Jayda Thomas. Jayda tied for first overall and lost in a sudden death playoff on the first hole. I'm sure she is disappointed but I'm proud of her and excited to see how great she will be next year! Amazingly, Jayda made second team all-conference and only played in two of the three tournaments used to qualify."

"It's amazing how fast our season went by! We developed a good team and I'm very excited for next season!"

The Lutes shot a team tally of 694 over the two rounds, enjoying a five-stroke edge on crosstown nemesis University of Puget Sound. Pacific Lutheran shot a 345 during Sunday's opening round before collecting a 349 on Monday. George Fox University won the team title, shooting a 631 (318-313) with Whitworth University eight strokes back as runner-up (213-326).
