TUMWATER, Wash. — Koen Solis shot four under on Sunday, spearheading the Pacific Lutheran University men's golf squad's 17-stroke dual match victory over host South Puget Sound Community College.
Solis landed medalist honors after shooting a four-under 68 at Tumwater Valley Golf Course. His day included five birdies, 12 pars, and just one bogey. Solis was par for the front nine but was four under over the final nine holes with birdies on holes 10, 11, 14, and 16.
Marcus Otto was runner-up, shooting an even par 72. Otto's round included three birdies and 12 pars.
Soren Bostrom,
Tyler Maag, and
Luke Pendergraft all tied for third with a 76.
Grant Raubenolt was one stroke back in seventh while
Luke Butler was 12th with a 79.
Geo Pirrie rounded out the PLU contingent, placing 14thwith an 80.Â
PLU shot a team tally of 291, enjoying a 17-stroke lead over the Clippers who finished with a team tally of 308.
"Koen was medalist with an 'easy' four under par 68. Marcus  finished second with an even par 72," said Head Coach Al Patterson.
"Both of them kept the ball in play and made the game look easy. Koen was super impressive and Marcus was solid. We're looking forward to going to George Fox this next weekend before we get into conference play."
The Lutes are back in action on March 30 for day one of the George Fox Invitational.
