DUPONT, Wash. — Soren Bostrom finished two strokes shy of medalist honors, powering the Pacific Lutheran University men's golf team to a runner-up finish on Tuesday at the PLU Invitational held at The Home Course.
Bostrom finished three under for the two-round event, firing a one-under par 71 on Monday before shaving off a stroke with a round of 70 on Tuesday. Bostrom's first round included five birdies and eight pars while netting seven birdies and six pars on Tuesday."

Tyler Maag and
Jack Brigham tied for sixth overall, both shooting a 144. Maag represented the PLU B team, carding a 71 on Monday with 12 pars and four birdies while finishing with a 73 on Tuesday that included two birdies and 13 pars.Â
"Jack had a great effort ,second best on our team as a freshman. We're very proud of him and our captain Tanner who had a solid effort and came back today with one under par 71.

Shout out to Tyler! He shot one under yesterday and then one over today for an even par total and earned a spot on our trip to the fall classic next week down at Pacific. A second place team effort is something that we're very proud of and the fact that we played so good on the second round in very difficult conditions set us up really well for the fall classic."

Playing in just his second collegiate event, Brigham shot a 73 on Monday and a 71 on Tuesday. Round one saw Brigham net two birdies and 13 pars while grabbing six birdies and nine pars during round two.Â
Tanner Frinell was the fourth Lute in the top 10, tying for 10th overall with a 145. Frinell shot a 74 on Monday before shaving off three strokes on Tuesday with a 71.
Luke Butler tied for 12th while representing the PLU B Team, carding a 147 (71-76) while
Luke Pendergraft was 28th with a 154 (79-75).
Aiden Aoki (82-74) and
Grant Raubenolt (76-80) tied for 32nd overall, both shooting a 156.Â

The Lutes shot a 580 over the two days, finishing six strokes shy of Whitman College for first place. PLU carded a 294 on Monday before coming back with a 286 on Tuesday at the 10-team event. PLU's B Team finished tied for 5th with a 603 (299-304), besting the A teams from Northwest Conference rivals Pacific University, George Fox University, and University of Puget Sound.Â
Pacific Lutheran is back in action on Oct. 4 for round one of the NWC Fall Classic at North Plains, Oregon. The NWC Fall Classic is one of three tournaments that decide the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III Tournament.Â
