PARKLAND - Heidi Weston won a super-tiebreaker at No. 5 singles
for Pacific Lutheran's only point as the Lutes dropped an 8-1
Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Friday to visiting
Lewis & Clark College.
Weston battled from behind to defeat Macrina Sharpe, 4-6, 6-4,
1-0 (12-10). Other than that, the Pioneers picked up straight-set
victories in every other singles match, losing a total of 14 games
in the other five contests.
Caitlyn Hoerr and Deanna Elmer gave their Lewis & Clark foes
a battle at No. 3 doubles, but Jill Coleman and Sharpe held on for
an 8-6 victory.
The Lutes, now 0-5 this season and 0-4 in the NWC, return to
action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they host the Pacific Boxers.
Pacific has already defeated PLU this season, 6-3, back on Feb. 6
in Oregon.
