PORTLAND, Ore. - Pacific Lutheran won two of the three doubles
points but faltered in singles and dropped a 6-3 Northwest
Conference women's tennis decision to host Lewis & Clark
College on Saturday.
Deanna Ellmer won in both doubles and singles to highlight the
Lutes' performance. Ellmer combined with Caitlyn Hoerr to pull out
a 9-8 (7-3) victory over Macrina Sharpe and Paige Earhart at No. 3
doubles, and Ellmer beat Sharpe, 0-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 6
singles.
Pacific Lutheran's other point came at No. 1 doubles where
Ashley Coats and Cora Wigen defeated Whitney DeBree and Jill
Coleman, 8-6.
The Lutes (2-12 overall, 2-10 conference) do not return to
action until April 2 when they play at George Fox in Newberg, Ore.
