Willamette Blanks PLU Women Netters

SALEM, Ore. - Willamette blanked visiting Pacific Lutheran , 9-0, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Saturday, April 3 at the Courthouse Tennis Club.

Willamette is now 10-6 overall, 9-4 in the Northwest Conference. Pacific Lutheran is 3-13 on the season, 3-11 in the NWC.

The Bearcats won all six singles matches, although Jamie Slonaker needed a win in a first set tie-breaker to defeat Annika Swenson at No. 6 singles, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3.

In doubles No. 1 action, Natalia Agarycheva and Fabi Dieguez defeated Ashley Coats and Cora Wigen, 8-0. Agarycheva also defeated Wigen in singles No. 1 play, 6-0, 6-2. Agarycheva is now 11-1 in NWC singles play.

Shannon Palmer earned victories in singles No. 2 and doubles No. 2 play. Palmer teamed with Alyssa Morrison to defeat Ali Burnside and Tina Aarsvold, 8-1.

Morrison also earned a victory in singles No. 5 play by defeating Caitlyn Hoerr, 6-0, 6-1. With the win, Morrison moved to 10-3 in NWC play this season.

PLU wraps up its 2010 season next weekend with home matches against Linfield on Saturday and Puget Sound on Sunday.
