Whitworth Dumps Visiting Lute Netters

SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth swept to its seventh straight women's tennis victory on Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 win over visiting Pacific Lutheran at the Scotford Tennis Center.

Pacific Lutheran is now 2-7 overall and 0-7 in conference matches, while the Pirates improved to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the Northwest Conference this season.

The two closest matches of the day occurred in doubles. Rachel Burns and Alli Marshall had to work hard to beat Leah Newell and Tima Aarsvold of PLU 8-6 at No. 1 Claire Hemming and Siri Carlson had a similar match at No. , winning 8-5 over Caitlyn Hoerr and Sophia Ro.

The singles matches went quickly as no Lute won more than two games against any Pirate player.
