SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth swept to its seventh straight women's tennis victory on Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 win over visiting Pacific Lutheran at the Scotford Tennis Center.
Pacific Lutheran is now 2-7 overall and 0-7 in conference matches, while t he Pirates improved to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the Northwest Conference this season .
The two closest matches of the day occurred in doubles. Rachel Burns and Alli Marshall had to work hard to beat Leah Newell and Tima Aarsvold of PLU 8-6 at No. 1, while Claire Hemming and Siri Carlson had a similar match at No. 3, winning 8-5 over Caitlyn Hoerr and Sophia Ro.
The singles matches went quickly as no Lute won more than two games against any Pirate player.
