McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield blanked a Northwest Conference opponent for the second day in a row as the Wildcats defeated Pacific Lutheran, 9-0, Sunday at the Linfield Tennis Center.
Abby Olbrich won her 40th career doubles match and Sarah Watanabe picked up her 40th career victory in singles action to help the 'Cats (11-4, 9-1 NWC) complete the season sweep of the Lutes (2-9, 0-9 NWC).
Olbrich's reached the new mark when she and doubles partner Sarah Click defeated PLU's Leah Newell and Tina Aarsvold, 8-1. Watanabe's victory came at No. 5 singles where she topped Deanna Ellmer, 6-1, 6-1.
Hailey Rile came closest to a win for the Lutes, taking Marisa Steinkamp to three sets before losing by a 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8) score.
The Lutes return to action at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, when they host the Puget Sound Loggers in Northwest Conference action.
