Women's Tennis Makes it 2-0 in Non-Conference

TACOMA - Beating a non-conference foe for the second time in as many matches this season, Pacific Lutheran defeated College of Idaho, 9-0, in a match played late Friday night at the UPS Tennis Pavilion.

The Lutes improved their record to 2-4 in a contest that started well after 8 p.m. and didn't end until after 11 p.m.

PLU won the first two doubles matches 8-3, Leah Newell and Tina Aarsvold teaming up for an 8-3 win over Molly Leadbetter and Tanya Greenwood at No. 1, and Deanna Ellmer and Hailey Rile topping Sarah Roper and Cassie Low at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match went to Saiyare Refaei and Amanda Petersen, 8-5, over Hayley Hutchings and Theresa Fucera.

Pacific Lutheran won five of the six singles matches in straight sets, and three of the matches were 6-3, 6-3 scores, Aarsvold beating Hutchings at No. 2, Ellmer topping Roper at No. 4, and Rile taking Greenwood at No. 5. Newell beat Leadbetter by nearly the same score at No. 1, winning 6-2, 6-3. The other straight-set victory went to Sophia Ro, 6-2, 6-0, over Cassie Low at No. 6.
