PORTLAND – The Pacific Lutheran women's tennis team saw its season come to an end Saturday afternoon as the Lutes fell to Lewis & Clark 6-3 in Northwest Conference action at the LC Tennis Dome.
With the loss, PLU wraps its season with an 11-7 overall record and a 7-5 NWC mark. The Lutes fifth-place conference ranking is their best NWC finish since the 2007 team placed fourth, and PLU's 11 wins are their most since the 2007 squad won 13.
Lewis & Clark took the first two doubles matches, before Emily Bower and Megan Beyers gave the Lutes their first win of the day with an 8-2 victory over Esa Grigsby and Paloma Vizcaino. The Pioneers took four of the six singles matches as well. Samantha Lund picked up PLU's first win of the round with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Olivia Sweetman. Bower ended the match with a singles win against Allison Schneider, claiming a 7-5, 6-0 victory.
