Lewis & Clark sweeps Lutes 9-0

TACOMA – Lewis & Clark won all nine matches Sunday as the Pioneers defeated Pacific Lutheran 9-0 in Northwest Conference women's tennis action at Sprinker Recreation Center.

Pacific Lutheran falls to 0-2 both overall and in conference play this season, while Lewis & Clark improves to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the NWC. The Lutes head to Oregon next weekend for their first road trip of the season, as they will take on George Fox on Saturday at 1 p.m. before closing out the weekend at Pacific on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Lewis & Clark opened the day with a perfect 3-0 mark in the doubles round. Kacey Incerpi and Christine Eliazo teamed to defeat Caroline Dreher and Samantha Lund 8-2 in the number one match. Aurora Garrison and Wiktoria Plawska knocked off Allison McClure and Megan Beyers 8-5, and Summer Garrison and Claudia Lew defeated Emily Bower and Emily Beemsterboer 8-0.

The Pioneers continued their run in the singles competition, claiming all six victories in straight sets. Summer Garrison defeated Dreher 6-0, 6-2 at the top of the ladder, while Aurora Garrison took down McClure 6-2, 6-1. Plawska defeated Lund 6-2, 6-0, and Lew knocked off Beyers 6-2, 6-0. Incerpi defeated Bower 6-0, 6-3, while Beemsterboer had the most impressive showing for the Lutes in a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Glenna Gee-Taylor in the number six slot.
