NEWBERG, Ore. – Pacific Lutheran headed to Oregon for its first road trip of the season, falling 8-1 to George Fox Saturday afternoon in Northwest Conference women's tennis action.
The loss drops PLU's record to 0-3 this season, while George Fox improved to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Lutes head to Forest Grove Sunday to take on Pacific in a match that is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
Emily Beemsterboer picked up the first match win of her PLU career Saturday, defeating Andrea Motley 6-1, 6-4 in the fifth singles match. Allison McClure and Emily Bower pushed their matches to three sets apiece, as McClure fell to Chantelle Hadeed 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 and Bower fell to Catrina Kwong 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
Sarah Tuemmler defeated Caroline Dreher 6-4, 6-1 in the first singles match. Taylor Barnes defeated Megan Beyers 6-4, 6-3 in the third singles match, and Ali Diehl defeated Stephanie Baker 6-0, 6-1 in the number six matchup.
The doubles round saw Tuemmler and Hadeed defeat Dreher and McClure 8-4 in the first match. Kwong and Motley defeated Beyers and Bower 8-2, and Diehl and Rey defeated Beemsterboer and Ericksen 8-2 in the third doubles match.
