Lutes fall to Pacific 6-3

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran women's tennis team concluded the first road trip of the 2015 season Sunday, falling 6-3 to Pacific at Holce Tennis Courts.

With the loss, PLU falls to 0-4 this season. Pacific improves to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Lutes return home next weekend to host Willamette on Saturday and College of Idaho on Sunday.

The Lutes picked up their first doubles match victory of the season in the third doubles competition. Emily Bower and Emily Beemsterboer teamed to defeat Carlee Rhodaback and Kanani Kea 8-5. Pacific won the other two doubles matches, as Kaitlyn Lomartire and Mai Kobayashi defeated Caroline Dreher and Ingrid Ericksen 8-1 and Jelena Vidovic and Sidney Smith defeated Allison McClure and Megan Beyers 8-3.

The two Emilys also proved victorious in singles competition to give PLU its other two wins of the night. Bower knocked off Kobayashi 6-0, 6-1 in the fourth singles match, and Beemsterboer defeated Rhoadaback 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth singles match.

Lomartire defeated Dreher 6-3, 6-2 at the top of the singles ladder, and Vidovic knocked off McClure 6-2, 6-2 in the second match. Smith won the third singles match against Beyers 6-2, 6-4, and Kea defeated Stephanie Baker 6-0, 6-1 to wrap up the day.
