SPOKANE – Emily Beemsterboer contributed a singles win and teamed with Emily Bower for a doubles win to lead Pacific Lutheran as the Lutes fell 7-2 to Whitworth in Northwest Conference women's tennis action Sunday at Scotford Tennis Center.
Pacific Lutheran fell to 2-6 overall and 1-6 in conference play, while Whitworth improved to 5-3 overall and 5-2 in the NWC. The Lutes return home this week to host Bellevue College on Thursday at 4 p.m. before heading to California for their spring break trip.
Beemsterboer outlasted Caylee Lamm 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in the final singles match and teamed with Bower to defeat Lamm and Saryn Mooney 8-5 in the final doubles match. Caroline Dreher pushed her first singles set against Taylor Pena to extra points before falling 7-5, 6-1. Mooney defeated Allison McClure in the second singles match 6-0, 6-2.
Bella Hoyos defeated Samantha Lund 6-1, 6-2, while Megan Beyers took Jennifer Adams to extra points before falling 7-6 (8-6), 6-0. Morgan McDivitt downed Bower 6-2, 6-2 in the fifth singles match. Pena and Adams teamed to knock off Dreher and Lund 8-3 in the first doubles match, while McDivitt and Hoyos defeated McClure and Beyers 8-2 in the second doubles match.
