PASADENA, Calif. – The Pacific Lutheran women's tennis team began its spring break trip in strong form Sunday, taking all but one match in an 8-1 nonconference victory over Caltech.
With the win, Pacific Lutheran improves to 3-6 overall this season. The Lutes return to action Tuesday, when they will take on Occidental in Los Angeles at 4 p.m.
Pacific Lutheran swept the doubles round to open the day. Caroline Dreher and Samantha Lund picked up an 8-4 win in the first match, while Allison McClure and Megan Beyers won the second match 8-5 and Emily Bower and Emily Beemsterboer won the final match 8-3.
The Lutes came one match shy of sweeping the singles round. Dreher won the first match, with McClure winning the second and Lund picking up a victory in the third contest. Bower and Beemsterboer picked up the wins in the final two matches, while Beyers fell in the fourth match.
