LAKEWOOD, Wash. - Lilly Lee and Emily Beemsterboer claimed singles victories as the women's tennis team were narrowly defeated 5-4 in a Saturday afternoon exhibition match against Bellevue College
The Lutes (4-4, 3-3) came out swinging with Caroline Dreher and Megan Beyers taking the No. 1 doubles, 7-5 while Lee and Ingrid Ericksen closed doubles play, winning 6-4.
Lee and Emily Beemsterboer brought home two singles victories with Beemsterboer claiming the No. 4 match, 8-5 and Lee edging a 9-8 (7-4) tiebreaker in No. 5.
Emily Bower nearly took the singles No. 3, forcing her opponent into a tiebreaker before coming up just short with an 9-8 (7-4) loss.
The women travel to California next week for their annual spring break trip.
The Lutes face Occidental on March 29 and Cal Lutheran on March 31 before resuming conference play in Oregon against Pacific on April 2.
