By Samantha Lund, Sports Information Student Writer

PARKLAND, Wash. - Emily Beemsterboer earned a singles win but the Women's tennis team dropped it's home conference match against Whitworth, 8-1.

The Lutes started strong in doubles as Emily Bower and Beemsterboer forced
KC McConnell and Paige Rohrbach to extra points before losing 8-5. At three, Ingrid
Ericksen and Lilly Le also had a close match before losing 8-4.

The singles matches were a grind. At one, Caroline Dreher took the first set against
Whitworth's Bella Hoyos but dropped the second. The two went back and forth,
each winning one point at a time before Hoyos took the match 5-7, 6-2, 10-8.

At two, Megan Beyers also found her stride and forced Emma Jo Wiley to earn her
points. Beyers eventually lost 5-7, 2-6.

Bower also had an impressive string of points at three, losing the first set but
coming back in the second to take her match into a tiebreaker. Bower also battled
through a back and forth tiebreaker before losing 7-5, 2-6, 10-8.

PLU's lone win came in at four where Beemsterboer took a default while she was up
5-4.
