PARKLAND, Wash. – With close to 30 athletes qualified, the Pacific Lutheran track and field teams head to Oregon for the Northwest Conference Championships this weekend.
The NWC Championships are schedule for Friday and Saturday, hosted by Lewis & Clark in Portland. Events begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday with the women's hammer and men's javelin. Saturday's events begin at 10:30 a.m. with the women's shot put and men's discuss, pole vault and triple jump.

On the men's side, Richard Johnson heads into the weekend as the top seed in the 100m with a time of 10.74. Garrett Hittner, who finished third in 2015, is seeded seventh with teammate Carson Ketter seeded fifth. The three will be joined by Shaun Bradley as the top seeded 4x100 relay team.
Freshman Brad Hodkinson looks to continue to put his mark on PLU track and field as the second seed in both the men's 5,000 (15:01.94) and 10,000 (31:59.14) meters. He is also qualified as the fourth seed in the men's 1500 meters with a time of 4:00.82.
Lucas Hatton is seeded second in the shot put (15.65m) and third in the hammer (47.66m). Erik Swartout is seeded third in the javelin with a distance of 63.12m. Dominique Jackson leads the women's team, ranking third in the discus (38.71m) and fifth in the hammer (44.33m). Charene Stovall is ranked third in the shot put with a distance of 11.85m.
Senior Amanda Wilson is ranked fifth in the women's 200m (25.68) and eighth in the 400m (59.10). Both the men and women's teams are looking to improve and move up from 2015 where the men finished sixth and the women finished fifth.
NWC HONORS
The Lutes have received three NWC Student-Athletes of the Week honors during the 2016 season. Charene Stovall was recognized following her performance at the Rich Allen Classic where she won the shot put with a distance of 11.83m.
Richard Johnson has been recognized twice this season as he consistently improved upon his 100m time and led the Lute 4x100 relay team that is seeded first heading into the weekend.
