PORTLAND – Richard Johnson and the 4x100 relay team led the Pacific Lutheran track and field teams at the 2016 Northwest Conference Championships, hosted by Lewis & Clark. The men's team finished fourth, while the women finish eighth.
The two event titles came on the track when Richard Johnson won the 100m in a time of 10.76. The 4x100 relay team of Johnson, Carson Ketter, Garrett Hittner and Shaun Bradley started the morning off with a winning time of 41.86.
Johnson, Ketter and Hittner continue to add points for the Lutes with a three (Johnson, 21.880, four (Hittner, 22.11), and five (Ketter, 22.23) finish in the 200m. Lucas Hatton contributed with a third place finish in the shot put with a throw of 15.40, and a fifth place in the discus with a personal best throw of 42.44m.
On the women's side, Annie Waldrop set a personal record in the shot put with a throw of 12.17m, good enough for second place. Dominique Jackson earned second place in the discus with a throw of 38.81m.
Senior Amanda Wilson placed third in both the 200m (25.69) and 400m (58.72). Maddie Bernard placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.02m.
The PLU women finished eighth in the team standings with a weekend total of 51, while the men finished fourth with 101 points. Whitworth won both the men's (187 points) and women's (216.5 points) titles, followed by George Fox and Linfield.
