PARKLAND, Wash. – Pacific Lutheran thrower Erik Swartout will return to the NCAA Track & Field Championships for the second year in a row. The championships will be held May 26-28 at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
"It's good to be back in the national meet," said Swartout. "It's a great atmosphere and a good opportunity for me to put all of the pieces together. I'm looking forward to next week and I'm ready to compete."
Swartout qualified in the javelin as the seventh-seeded athletic in the nation. Each men's event takes the top 20 qualified student-athletes, while the women's events take the top 22 qualified athletes. Swartout's career-best mark of 63.13m (207-1) at the 11th Annual Sam Adams Classic in early April ranks him now third on the PLU javelin leaderboard in the past 30 years. He owns two of the top-10 marks in PLU history.
