LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis squad was unable to keep pace with Northwest Conference rival Linfield College on Saturday afternoon, falling 9-0 at the Sprinker Recreation Center.
"We ran into a very tough team today and were just out played," said Head Coach Lorrie Wood. "Kristi and Victoria really showed their mettle at No. 3 doubles and Caroline had a close battle at No. 1 singles."
The Lutes' (3-9, 2-4 NWC) Kristi Floyd and Victoria Bolshakova pushed the Wildcats' (6-1, 3-0 NWC) Kelsey Barlett and Sierra Lemon to the limit at No. 3 doubles before eventually falling by a razor thin 9-7 margin. At No. 1, Caroline Dreher and Hannah Jeffries were upended by an 8-3 scoreline.
In singles play, Dreher battled hard at No. 1 against Ella Riddle before eventually succumbing, 6-3, 6-4. Jeffries fell, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 while Kylie Rademacher ended up on the wrong side of a, 6-4, 6-1, decision at No. 6.
The Lutes are back in action on Monday afternoon, facing Chapman University to open the squad's spring break tour of California.
