LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A tough start during doubles play ultimately hamstrung the Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team on Tuesday afternoon, falling 6-3 to Occidental College at the courts at Scholl Canyon.

The host Tigers (4-6) pulled out victories in all three doubles matches. The Lutes' (3-11) No. 1 squad of Caroline Dreher and Hannah Jeffries were undone 8-4 while Lauren Kearney and Bayley Gochanour came up just short at No. 2 with Oxy emerging with the 9-8 win. At No. 3, Kristi Floyd and Victoria Bolshakova kept this close in an 8-6 setback.

Gochanour would go on to win her singles match, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3 while Floyd prevailed, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4 singles. Kylie Rademacher tallied the Lutes' third singles win, rolling, 6-2, 7-6, at No. 6. Dreher nearly pulled out the win at the No. 1 position but Occidental's Samantha Farrell walked away with the, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3), decision.

"The women dug in and battled well today," said Head Coach Lorrie Wood. "The match could have gone either way and it came down to a tiebreaker in doubles and singles."

The Lutes close out their spring break trip on Wednesday with a dual against California Institute of Technology.
