Women's Tennis Faces Wildcats & Bearcats in Oregon

TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team will be back in action this weekend. The Lutes will be hitting the road to face Northwest Conference rivals Linfield College and Willamette University.

The Lutes (2-4, 0-2 NWC) are coming off a tough weekend, suffering setbacks to both George Fox University and Lewis & Clark College. Kylie Rademacher picked up a, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), singles win against the Bruins after teaming up with Lauren Kearney to score an 8-6 doubles win. The following day, Hannah Jefferies was able to win a singles match in the number one spot for the Lutes against the Pios, prevailing, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Kristi Floyd is the lone senior on this year's women's tennis team. Floyd is an environmental science major who's sister, Karli, also played tennis for the Lutes.

"I started playing freshman year of high school and am now going on my fourth year playing PLU tennis," said Floyd. "I would say my strength is my net play.  Being able to get to the net as fast as possible and cut off shots early is my absolute favorite thing! Although I will admit I need to be more patient at times."

Floyd talked about this weekend's matchups,

"For our Linfield match I am expected some fast paced and aggressive play, which means we will need to dig deep and grind.  And for our Willamette match, we will be able to pull out our more aggressive shots and should have some very good matches. We have been progressively improving throughout our matches thus far, and I have been so proud of the work we have all been putting in!   I can't wait to see this trend continue this weekend! Also, I am honestly really excited to be on the road for the first time this season, and be able have some quality team bonding time!"

The Lutes will be in McMinnville on Saturday for an afternoon matchup against the Wildcats at 1 p.m. and then head to Salem on Sunday to take on the Bearcats at 10 a.m.
