THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis squad opened up its spring break trip on Sunday, dropping a 9-0 decision to host California Lutheran University.
Hannah Jeffries and
Bayley Gochanour battled hard at the No. 1 doubles spot before ultimately falling 8-3 to the Regals' (10-1) top tandem of Nicole Alvarez and Joann Taylor.
In singles,
Kylie Rademacher provided stiff resistance at No. 4 but came up just short, 6-3, 6-4, while
Kristi Floyd ended up on the wrong side of a, 6-0, 6-4, affair at No. 3. At the No. 1 spot, Jeffries was unable to keep pace with Lilijana Peters-Semak, stumbling, 6-1, 6-1.
"The Lutes had some tough compitition at Cal Lu," said Head Coach
Cheri Campbell. "Kylie was the closest at 3 and , but Kristi battled in the second set and almost getting into a third set. I'm proud of how the Lutes battled, and I'm ready for a big day tomorrow!"
The Lutes (2-7) return to the court tomorrow, facing Colby College in a dual match at 9 a.m. in Pasadena, California.
