TACOMA, Wash. - Throughout the rest of the semester, GoLutes.com will profile the Pacific Lutheran University senior student-athletes involved in spring sports that had their seasons cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today's installment features PLU women's tennis student-athlete
Alina Nussbaum.
Alina Nussbaum will be graduating this spring with a Bachelor's degree in Global Studies, and minors in Hispanic Studies and Religion.

Nussbaum was a member of the women's tennis team for three seasons, was a member of the cross country squad for a season, and was involved with intramural sports. Originally from Portland, Nussbaum quickly fell in love with Lute athletics.
Â
Her favorite memories were created during road trips and team excursions, where she and her teammates could bond off the court. Nussbaum said the largest impact her team and coaches had on her college experience was giving her a second family.
Â
From freshman year to now, Nussbaum has strengthened friendships which will last far after graduation. She also had the chance to live in Spain for five months, which complemented her emphasis in global studies.Â
Â
"Alina played three years of tennis after taking last year off. She has an amazing serve and overhead, one of the best in the conference," said Head Coach
Cheri Campbell. "Her athleticism and fitness can be seen on the court and it's not hard to see how she is also a two-sport athlete."
Â
The Portland, Oregon native compiled a 2-2 record at No. 3 doubles during the 2017-2018 season before taking the following season off. Nussbaum returned this year and played a match at No. 6 singles before the season was shutdown. On top of her tennis career, Nussbaum ran cross country during the fall of 2017, competing at both the Northwest Conference Championships and the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional.
Â
After graduation, Nussbaum plans to attend a master's program for public health, and run with it from there.
