Updated NWC Spectator Policy for Spring 2021

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference Presidents' Council has agreed to a conference policy that allows spectators from the home team to be permitted to attend outdoor regular-season NWC sporting events and that adheres to each site's local and state health guidance and institutional campus visitation policies. No spectators from visiting teams will be permitted to attend. The effective date for implementation at Pacific Lutheran University is Friday, April 16.

Spectators will be allowed at PLU home contests for outdoor tennis matches, softball games, and baseball games.

Due to public health guidelines and space restrictions, no spectators will be allowed at indoor tennis matches or track & field meets.

Spectators attending an event will be required to:
  • Wear masks at all times
  • Practice physical distancing of six feet
  • Remain outside (no access to university buildings)
Student-athletes will be authorized to have a maximum of two guests attend competitions, dependent on the spectator capacity limits based on state guidance according to phases. While in Phase 3, we will allow up to 50% of the venue seating capacity and if the county is moved back into Phase 2, the spectator capacity will decrease to 25% venue seating capacity. There will be no exceptions and no trading slots between athletes. Students will complete a form identifying guests and providing guest contact information prior to each competition. Guests will check into each venue prior to admittance to competitions. Entry will be denied if guest names are not on the approved list.

The conference office will continue to work with host sites for conference championships to determine the best course of action regarding spectator attendance.
