Setting the Scene: It's the start of the postseason for the Pacific Lutheran University baseball and track & field programs. All three squads will be down in Forest Grove, Oregon competing at the 2021 Northwest Conference Championships.

Men's and women's track & field will compete at Pacific University on Thursday and Friday with action getting underway at 1 p.m. on Thursday and 10:30 on Friday. Baseball meanwhile begins the double-elimination tournament on Thursday at 3 p.m. at Chuck Bafaro Stadium.

Baseball: The Lutes locked up the No. 2 seed for the NWC Tournament and enter the double-elimination championship riding a four-game win streak. Pacific Lutheran took care of business in the regular season finale against Linfield University, prevailing 10-3 and 8-7 on Saturday and 12-5 and 5-0 on Sunday.

Alex Boyd wrapped the weekend with a .467 batting average, collecting a hit in all four games of the series, including three multi-hit games. On the bump,
Jonathan Cohen turned in a strong showing in the series finale, tossing a complete game two-hitter. The freshman registered three strikeouts in the shutout win, logging his fourth win of the season.Â

Record Book Watch: The Lutes have several players knocking on the door of several single-season records.
Jordan Haworth has tied the school single season home run record, having gone yard on 13 occasions and is currently on pace to break the school record for slugging percentage (.748), currently slugging at a  .810 clip.

Cole Trotignon is four RBIs shy of breaking the single season record. The sophomore currently has 53 RBIs on the season.

Women's Track & Field: Pacific Lutheran heads into the 2021 NWC Championships with the top performance in seven events.
Bailey Forsyth holds the top times in both the 100-meters and 200-meters while
Sulin Degollado has the fastest time in the 800-meters.Â

Sarah Paquet has the fastest times in the 5,000-meters and 10,000-meters while in the field events, defending NWC Champion
Lauren Wilson owns the best clearance in the high jump.
Katelyn Harris has the top toss in the hammer throw while defending NWC Champion
Ava Nelson has the second best throw in the javelin.Â

Men's Track & Field: Seth Bridge heads to Forest Grove with the top marks in the NWC in both the shot put and discus while ranking second in the conference in the hammer throw.
Jonny Maier holds the second-best 3,000-meter steeplechase time while
Ryan Stracke is ranked second in the 5,000-meters and third in the 1,500-meters.Â

Women's Rowing: On Tuesday, the five-time NWC Champion Lutes officially received an invitation to the 2021 NCAA Division III Championships in Sarasota, Florida. The Lutes are one of six schools that will be competing on the water on May 28 and 29.Â

PLU won its fifth consecutive NWC crown on May 2, sweeping the varsity eight and second varsity eight races. The Lutes' 1V8+ will head to Florida undefeated against Division III competition this spring.

Softball: PLU landed seven on the All-NWC team on Tuesday, including
Casey Wright earning NWC Freshman of the Year.
Cailey Collado and
Erin McGrath earned First Team honors while
Kennedy Robillard,
Mari Foster, and Wright landed Second Team status.
Anna Foster and
Chaella Galapon were both named Honorable Mention All-NWC.
