Box Score PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the spring season on Tuesday afternoon, overwhelming host Paradise Valley Community College 6-3.
 
Lilian Nguyen and Meggie Burnett cruised to an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles while Ella Burriss and Katelyn Gonzalez won by default at the No. 3 position.
 
In singles, Jillian Chong racked up a, 6-2, 6-2, win over the Pumas' (0-1) Savannah Sousa while Burnett logged a 6-0, 6-0, decision at No. 4. Libertad Sarmiento and Gonzalez both won by default at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.

"I'm so proud of how the team competed today," said Head Coach Cheri Campbell. "They played a variety of levels and stayed focused on their game. The team continues to step up their game every time they step on the court."
 
The Lutes (1-1) close out their Arizona trip tomorrow afternoon, squaring off against Arizona Christian University.
