HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field team monopolized the Northwest Conference weekly awards for the second time this season on Tuesday with Hezekiah Goodwin winning NWC Track Athlete of the Week and Darius Chaffin securing NWC Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Goodwin lands NWC Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this spring and the second time in as many weeks after finishing runner-up in the 800-meters at the Cal State-Northridge Invite on Saturday. The Sacramento, California native clocked a personal record time of one minute, 52.60 seconds in the two-lap race. Goodwin was the top non-D1 competitor in a race featuring competitors from all three NCAA divisions. The senior's time is the third fastest 800 in school history, is the fastest 800 time in the NWC, and is the sixth-fastest in Division III this spring. Goodwin additionally placed third as a member of the Lutes' 4x400-meter relay team.
 
Chaffin lands NWC Field Athlete of the Week after winning the javelin at the CSUN Invite. The first-year from Kalihi, Hawaii uncorked a throw of 181 feet, eight inches, besting the runner-up from Division I USC by 33 feet. Chaffin also was the top collegiate finisher in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 15.27. Also a member of the PLU football team, Chaffin owns the third best javelin toss in Division III this season and the best mark in the NWC and owns the third best 110-meter hurdle time in the conference this spring.
 
This is the third time this season Goodwin has been tabbed NWC Track Athlete of the Week, previously securing the accolade on March 29 and March 15. This is also the second week the Lutes have swept the weekly awards with Corey Solomon winning NWC Field Athlete of the Week on March 15. 
 
The Lutes are back in action this weekend, hosting the PLU Invite on Friday and Saturday.
