SEATTLE, Wash. — Keola Sanchez clocked a personal best time in the 60-meter dash in his first race of the season on Saturday, one of two members of the Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field squad competing at the UW Invitational on Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.
"It was definitely a good opener for Keola. He's had a really good training build up this year so it's nice to get him into an early race and have success," said Head Coach
Trey Henderson.
Sanchez sprinted to a personal best time of 6.93 seconds in the preliminary heats of the 60-meters, finishing runner-up in his heat and eighth overall among a field of 42 sprinters. The senior clocked a time of 6.94 in the finals, finishing seventh overall and was the top finishing Division III sprinter.
Grady Lemma opened the meet on Friday, missing three attempts at 14 feet, 2 inches in the pole vault. On Saturday, the junior ran his first open indoor 400-meter dash of his career, looping the oval in 52.28. Lemma was third in his heat behind a pair of Division II runners and 23rd overall as the top D3 runner.
"It was good to get Grady two days of events between the pole vault yesterday and the 400 today before he has his first multi this year."
The Lutes take next weekend off before traveling to Spokane, Washington on Feb. 9 for day one of the Whitworth Indoor Invitational.
