TACOMA, Wash. —The Pacific Lutheran University men's track & field squad wrapped up spring break in style on Saturday, competing at the University of Puget Sound's Peyton-Shotwell Invitational.
Hunter Kleindl placed third in the pole vault with an outdoor personal best clearance of 14 feet, 3 ¼ inches.
Seth Kramer placed fifth in the long jump, leaping 21' 10 ¾" while
Bridger Hanis led the Lutes in the triple jump with a mark of 38' 9 ¾".
In the throws,
George Sonko was second in the discus, uncorking a throw of 141' 4" and was fourth in the shot put with a heave of 43' 7".
Griffin Montana was ninth in the shot put with a throw of 40' 5 ½" while
Jake Wood was ninth in the javelin (140' 7").
Tyger Willingam was 10th in the 100-meter dash in 11.34 while in the distance events,
Isaiah Bradley led the Lutes in the 1,500-meters (4:21.09) with
Noah Friedrich paving the way in the 5,000-meters, finishing the 12 ½ lap race in 16:28.54 with
Justin Garrett clocking a personal best in 16:46.06.
PLU's 4x100-meter relay was third overall, clocking a time of 43.31.
"I thought it was a strong day for us coming off of spring break," said Head Coach
Trey Henderson.
"There were a good number of PR's and that continued progression is a great sign at the midpoint of the season.
"We're a month out from conference so it's about continuing to work hard and letting the improvement come with each opportunity."
The Lutes head to Oregon next weekend for the Linfield Invitational.
