FEDERAL WAY, Wash.— The Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming team won its second relay title of the weekend on Sunday, closing out the 2024 Northwest Conference Championships at the King County Aquatic Center by finishing fourth overall as a team.

Sidney Chan-Orcutt,
Riley Maher, and
Emma Gassman won the final event of the meet, edging crosstown rival University of Puget Sound to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in three minutes, 34.66 seconds.Â

It was the third NWC title the Lutes won over the weekend with Ordaz winning the 100-yard butterfly on Saturday and the PLU 400-yard medley relay team of
Annika Eisele,
Makenzie Chan-Orcutt, Ordaz, and Gassman earning the victory on Friday evening.Â

Also headlining the weekend was Head Coach
Andrew Lum earning NWC Coach of the Year honors, becoming the first Lute to secure the honor since Matt Sellman won the award after PLU won the 2016 NWC team title. Â

"The Lutes were pure magic this weekend! Just when you think they had pulled out all the stops, they had more tricks up their sleeve," said Lum who's in his second season at the helm.Â

Gassman was runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:06.84 while
Annika Eisele was fourth in 2:08.61. Gassman's finish earned her First Team All-Conference honors while Eisele was honored as Second Team All-League.

Sidney Chan-Orcutt was All-Conference in the 100-yard freestyle, bagging a seventh place showing in 54.75. Twin sister
Makenzie Chan-Orcutt was All-League in the 200-yard breaststroke, placing seventh after touching the wall in 2:27.65.
Anna Matisons was 16th in the same event in 2:35.27.Â

Maher and Gassman earned All-Conference in the 200-yard butterfly, placing back-to-back in fifth and sixth. Maher clocked a 2:13.63 while Gassman was close behind in 2:14.68.
Jersey Razzano won the B Final, placing ninth overall in 2:22.44 while
Melissa Zuniga was 16th in 2:32.75. Razzano additionally was 11th in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 18:55.5.

The Lutes scored 409 points over the four days, finishing fourth overall and just 10 points shy of third place Whitworth University (419). Whitman College secured the team title with 620.5 points with Linfield University taking second billing with 460 points. Crosstown rival Puget Sound was fifth with 401 points followed by Willamette University in sixth (334). George Fox University (302), Lewis & Clark College (193), and Pacific University (128.5) rounded out the team standings.Â
